The one that is certainly the most famous of all dinosaurs lived at the end of the Cretaceous in what is now North America, between 70 and 65 million years ago. Classified for the first time in 1905 by the American paleontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn, Tyrannosaurus rex would have become famous, thanks also to numerous films and documentaries, as the "king of the dinosaurs".
