In ancient Egyptian mythology, Isis was the goddess of magic, fertility and motherhood, one of the nine most important deities of the Egyptian pantheon, while Osiris, her brother and husband, was the king of the underworld. In iconography she is often represented as a hawk or as a woman with bird wings and she symbolizes the wind. She in winged form she is also painted on the sarcophagi in the act of taking the soul between the wings to lead it to new life.
