The Auryn is a magical item that grants its bearer the power to traverse the lands of Fantasy. In the film adaptation of the novel, the symbol was represented as two intertwined snakes forming a circle.
The symbol of the Auryn seems to be linked to the ancient symbol of the ouroboros: a snake that bites its tail forming a circle, symbol of the eternal return and of the Universe, the immortal and imperishable cyclical time. The Auryn represents the union of opposites, the masculine and the feminine, Heaven and Earth, Manifest and Unmanifest World etc. It symbolizes the unique origin of all existing beings and things, of the entire Universe.
