Saraswati is a Hindu deity associated with knowledge, wisdom, music, art and rhetoric. She is often depicted as a beautiful woman dressed in white sitting on a lotus or water lily, playing a musical instrument called a veena. Saraswati is also associated with rivers and water, symbols of purification and continuous flow of knowledge.

In Hindu mythology, Saraswati is the consort of Brahma, the creator god, and together they are considered the parents of knowledge and creation.
